Faith, fun and discipline are alive and well in the Brady household. Wesley and Jeff Brady met 14 years ago. Jeff says that his pager would chirp when news broke, and hers would chirp when “water” broke.

  • “Body Matters – D Beauty”

Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation and Designer Laser Vaginoplasty are surgeries so taboo that only a handful of doctors in the nation perform them. The former tightens the vagina to enhance sexual gratification; the latter addresses the aesthetic appearance. Only one doctor in Dallas performs these surgeries: Dr. Wesley Anne Brady of the Women’s Wellness Institute of Dallas, who, after reading “Like a Virgin” in the May 2006 issue of D Magazine, went to Los Angeles to train with pioneering cosmetogynecologist David Matlock, M.D. Dr. Brady says it’s time women talked more openly about the sexual frustration they experience after childbirth. Vanity’s not to blame for women wanting LVR; rather, it’s a way for a woman to improve her well-being in a way that only she (and maybe a special he) will ever notice.

  • The Great Wall of Vagina (Yes, It’s a Thing)

Would you let someone cast your vagina in plaster and display it on a giant wall? Believe it or not, that’s exactly what artist, Jamie McCartney has done – and many women are eager participants. We know what you’re thinking: “This is crazy!”, but when you really think about it, it’s not at all crazy.

When the Huffington Post article, written by one said eager participant, came through our radar, needless to say it piqued our interest. The author began describing the experience and her moments of doubt just before the casting “procedure” – something we can all relate to. What she expressed about how she felt after it was all said and done made perfect sense, and frankly, carries quite an empowering sentiment. In short, it allowed her to really embrace the “I am woman, hear me roar” attitude, and we think that’s a very powerful thing. In fact, that’s exactly what the artist was aiming for.

  • Chemical Connection: Your Hormonal Health

As we become more health-conscious as a society, au naturale is taking the lead. From the food we eat to the products we use and more, our culture is making the shift toward much smarter, health-promoting decisions. According to some new information in the medical community, this shift is exactly what we need. Better late than never, right?

A group of studies, published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, revealed that certain chemicals in our food, makeup, and even furniture are messing with our health and wellbeing. Not only is our health paying the price, so are our wallets and economy.

Because these chemicals interfere with our hormones, the disease and subsequent disability and medical costs are directly and negatively impacting not only our bodies and our society. Specifically, the studies found that exposure to certain pesticides, plastics and cans, phthalates, and bisphenol A impact brain development and neurodevelopmental disabilities, obesity, diabetes, and male reproductive disabilities.

  • Teen Dating: New Study Reveals Important Information For Parents

Ah, the teen years. Hormonally-driven and emotionally charged, our teens can be quite a roller coaster - for parents too. From the fluctuating friendships and navigating through school the teen years can, and usually are, very formative, especially when entering the dating scene. For many, it’s those first few years of dating that create romantic patterns, behaviors and how we function in general in relationships. Although young love is often a very sweet thing to experience and witness, for some, it’s quite the opposite, and it can lead to a lifetime of pitfalls, poor decision making and negative habits. And the latter examples are more common than you might think.

A new study in JAMA Pediatrics, led by the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention, revealed 21 percent of high school girls surveyed had fallen victim to sexual or physical assault by someone they dated. It’s not just the girls. 10 percent of high school boys reported being a victim of dating violence.
